Founded by C.N. Williamson and E.E “Colonel” Dickie in 1918, Dickies started out as a humble vehicle & harness business, before moving into manufacturing workwear – beginning with little other than bib overalls. The company enjoyed rather immediate growth, which was somewhat stifled by the Great Depression – but not undone. Taking on contracts for millions of uniforms for the United States Armed Forces, Dickies turned to civilian workwear after the war which has been their primary focus ever since. Today, Dickies is known for producing a stable of workwear classics which have established themselves in an impressively versatile array of markets – from work uniforms, to proper trades person utilitarian wear, to streetwear, and even to skate-wear.
